We love a book that takes its aesthetics as seriously as its content. With the significant content and the visually stimulating images, ‘Moving Forward: New Directions in Transport Design’ by Helen Evenden, is more design magazine than book and a must read for designers and vehicle enthusiasts alike.
Evenden is currently a tutor in Vehicle Design at the Royal College of Art and the book as well as being a light read and a visual treat, is a homage to her expertise. It examines a number of transport solutions ranging from luxury vehicles, mass transit, air travel, bus systems, trains, hybrid cars, and future cutting edge technology, whilst stressing the need to change the physical experience of the modern journey.
In light of our increasing concern for the climate change, Evenden highlights the greatest challenge facing designers of transportation today, the environmental imperative. She includes a number of interviews with leading transport designers to illustrate the new directions and upcoming trends in transportation and goes further to present an in depth look at the future of the technology involved.
